Olin Project - EFdeN - 2016
His Excellency, the Ambassador of the United States of America in Romania, Hans Klemm visited on Monday, April 18, 2016, the EFdeN 4C prototype - the Comfort Conditions Research Center from Romania, declaring that "EFdeN is an example of Romanian innovation and engineering ."
The project was admired by American officials, who appreciated the team's involvement for the change they want to bring in the field of energy efficiency and the environment.
EFDEN started with the Solar Decathlon 2014 in Versailles, where it represented Romania and Eastern Europe in the international solar house competition. The project is a Romanian education and research project, with a team made up of student volunteers from several universities.
They designed and built a solar house, safe and comfortable, 100% electric and environmentally friendly. After the competition, the students assembled the house again, within the Faculty of Installations Engineering, functioning as a Comfort Conditions Research Center which is open to the general public every Thursday (between 18.00 - 20.00) and Sunday (between 12.00 - 16.00) .
The event was attended by the rectors of the Bucharest Technical University of Construction and the "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism, the teachers involved, members of the EFDEN team, but also representatives of the companies that supported the students and discussed the importance of such project for society and for universities as a practical approach for the personal and professional development of students.
The value of the entire project initiated 3 years ago, amounts to approximately 1.3 million euros through collaboration with over 120 private companies, 90% of the amount representing materials, products and services and only 10% financial contributions. For the future, EFDEN proposes a plan for the industrialization of the prototype, which would lead to a substantial decrease in the price, so that it could be included in the First Home program.
